Stikbook - Social Media App
Stikbook is a next-generation social media platform designed to engage users with an innovative coupon-based reward system and a dedicated kids' sub-platform. As the sole product designer, I was responsible for the end-to-end process, including user research, experience design, interface design, and branding. The goal was to create a product that felt fresh in a crowded market, offering users more than just likes and shares. With unique positioning around engagement rewards and child-safe environments, Stikbook set out to differentiate itself from established competitors.
Understanding the dual challenge of mainstream and kids' social media
The Challenge
The challenge was twofold: design a compelling social media experience for mainstream users, while also building a safe, moderated environment for younger audiences. Most existing platforms either lacked parental controls or treated child safety as an afterthought, leaving a gap in the market. At the same time, Stikbook needed to avoid being seen as a clone of existing giants like Instagram or TikTok. The solution had to feel familiar enough to reduce friction but unique enough to stand out and deliver measurable value to its users.

My Process
I began with competitive research to understand what users loved — and hated — about existing social platforms. This led to the idea of introducing a coupon-based reward system, where users could earn redeemable vouchers based on the time they spent engaging with the app. To address the kids' space, I designed a separate sub-platform with moderated content, parental permissions, and a simplified interface tailored to children. I created user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to visualize these concepts and tested them with small user groups, including parents and teens, to refine the experience.
